How To Draw Strength From God

draw strength from god

Fear can immobilize you. Fear tells you that your situation is hopeless. Fear tells you that you have exhausted all your resources and there is nothing you can do to change the situation. Hopelessness takes root. The downward spiral begins.

But……God.

This is exactly what happened to King Jehoshaphat and the small tribe of Judah when they were besieged on all fronts by three powerful and bloodthirsty armies rapidly advancing toward Jerusalem.

And Jehoshaphat feared and set himself to seek the Lord and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord” 2 Chronicles 20:3-4.

Draw Strength From God

strength from god

This is how my husband felt when he was trapped in the dense forest and running for his life. (Battered Hope chapter two) He was surrounded by men who were intent on hurting him.

A German Shepherd sniffer dog saw him and was about to bark out the alert. But God sent an angel to slap that dog who let out a loud yelp and ran for cover.

Jehoshaphat’s enemies were merciless and bent on annihilating him. The situation was hopeless and headed for a tragic end.

But…...God.

What was Jehoshaphat’s first response – fear! He was a valiant warrior king – yet had moments of lacking courage. He panicked. We may have that initial response when we are caught in an impossible place.

He wasn’t a valiant warrior king who was always full of faith and fiery courage to take down his enemies. He was a regular person who felt what most of us would – terror.

But rather than spiraling deeper into self-defeat, he stopped to ask God for strength

God Is NOT The Author Of Your Troubles

god is not the author of your troubles

Those are not the times to run away from God or think He does not hear our cries. Instead of getting angry, frustrated, or disappointed with God realize that God is NOT the author of your troubles.

He is the author of your faith, victory, success, and freedom from condemnation. He does not condemn you when you receive a negative doctor’s report, lose your job, or have people turn against you.

This is the time to thank God that He is an all-knowing God. He understands your dilemma and will give you the strength, wisdom, and courage to step out in faith and believe God’s Word is for you.

Instead of your petition for help, turn it into a prayer of praise and thank God that He is with you, He will never forsake you and He will protect you.

Have you been curious why some people seem to have more strength when they are in the middle of trauma? Both Daniel and David in the Old Testament are perfect examples of God-given strength.

The people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits” Daniel 11:32.

Daniel found favor in the eyes of the Gentile kings he served and experienced supernatural deliverance when there seemed to be no way out. He walked out of the lions’ den unharmed because he knew his God, His power, and His heart for him.

David was a young shepherd boy who was bold enough to challenge and take down the mighty Goliath when others were cowering in fear. He understood that God was a covenant-keeping God.

David also knew the power of worship and fellowship with His heavenly Father. When you recognize that love and glorious grace from your heavenly Father, you will bring down the giants in your life. It will be a testimony of God’s glory and promise.
