Stop Doubting God's Promises

stop doubting god

At moments when you need it most, do you lack faith? Do you yearn to have more assurance when you are stressed over a situation? Have you tried to believe for a miracle for so long and it does not appear to be happening?

You desire to be strong in faith and not waver at the promise of God like Abraham. (Romans 4:20) But, instead, you tried to believe but there seems to be no more faith in you. Can you relate?

By faith, Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age because she judged Him faithful who had promised” Hebrews 11:11.

When Sarah desired to have a child and there seemed to be no hope in the natural, her secret was simple, and it produced a miracle. She stopped struggling in her efforts and judged Him faithful to do what He had promised.

Doubting God

do not doubt god

Often people make it more difficult because they depend on their strength instead of God’s faithfulness. God is faithful. Lean on His faithfulness.

Do not give up thinking you don’t have enough faith. When God makes a promise to you from His Word, you can rest in Him Who promised – knowing that He is faithful.

If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself” 2 Timothy 2:13.

Jesus paid the price on the cross so we can constantly be in His presence and know that He will never leave us nor forsake us. (Matthew 27:46 and Hebrews 13:5)

At times when it is difficult to hold on to Him – remember that He is the One holding you. “Fear not, I will help you” Isaiah 41:13.

When you look at the vastness of the mountains that seem impossible to climb and you have been waiting for an answer to your prayers, you may tend to ask why.  Why, God, why?

Battered Hope

battered hope

In my memoir, Battered Hope, each chapter shares a trauma in my life which include:

  • Loss of a child

  • Brutally attacked and left for dead

  • Husband falsely imprisoned

  • Uterine cancer

  • Husband’s car accident which left him with permanent brain damage

  • Estrangement of our son

These were some of the mountains I faced but each time I chose to be a victor – not a victim. I learned how to depend on God’s faithfulness to me and that is where I kept my focus.

Asking God why will lead you on a downward spiral into depression.

Why did this happen to me?”

“Why is my child not healed?”

“Why does my family go from one tragedy after another?”

The fact is that we do not have all the answers. But God is a good God. He loves us. He is NEVER behind any pain we go through

Our faith in Him is not based on our experiences but on the unchanging, eternal Word of God, which cannot lie.

The devil wants you to get angry with God. He wants you to give up. He wants to keep you in a state of disappointment.

Keep Believing In God

keeping the faith alive

Keep believing that God can restore to you what you have lost. (Joel 2:25, Job 33.25) Hosea 2:15 promises us that He will return to you what you have lost and transform the valley of trouble into a gateway of hope.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” Hebrews 10:23. We have a choice to whine, murmur, complain, and doubt, or we can look to God and believe in His promises and faithfulness.

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” Isaiah 40:31.

During the years of trauma, I endured, I chose to keep my focus on God’s promises and when the doubts tried to ensnare me, I would speak those promises aloud and then pray them back to my heavenly Father as a prayer of thanksgiving.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your faithfulness in my life. You only want to give good gifts to your children. I thank you for your faithfulness to heal me and restore what I have lost through my suffering. You are upholding me. I can let go of the struggle and rest in You. Thank you for your promise.”
