You Are Safe Under His Wings

under his wings

Have you ever felt, or been told by well-meaning Christians, that God may be angry with you? This is the perfect trap, set by the father of lies, to make you believe that you have fallen short of God’s expectation. This causes you to live in a constant state of trying to appease Him instead of enjoying His sweet communion with you. It can also put you in a state of fear – which is not from God

If you have ever had these thoughts, here is a principle God wants to share with you from His Word. Fear and love cannot coexist in a healthy relationship

When you believe right about God’s love and grace toward you and what God’s Word has promised you then you will have freedom and liberty in Christ Jesus.

Safe Under His Wings

safe under his wings

For as I have sworn that the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, so I have sworn that I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, now shall My covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has mercy on you” Isaiah 54:9 – 10.

God is mad at you – He is madly in love with you, His child.

When Mary looked into Jesus’ empty tomb, she saw the substance of the ark of the covenant. Two angels were sitting where Jesus had lain – one at the head and the other at the feet. (John 20:11-12)

This tomb remains empty because all our sins have been forgiven and our Lord has risen. Our hope and assurance of salvation are found in our Savior’s nail-pierced hands. We are at the throne of grace, under the protective covering of His feathers and His wings.

He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings, you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler” Psalm 91:4.

You Are Safe

Picture a mother hen protecting her chicks. She will not allow anything to harm them. Never take God’s protection for granted but thank Him daily as you put your trust in Him. He wants to reward you with His refuge for trusting Him and coming under his wings.

Not only is He there to protect you but to sustain you. “I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down, says the Lord God. I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick” Ezekiel 34:15-16.

God is portrayed as our fortress, our stronghold, our tower, and our Shepherd. When we picture Him as our Shepherd, it promotes healing

Protection From God

under his wings

But He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes, we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way, and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all” Isaiah 53:5-6.

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and overseer of your souls” 1 Peter 2:24-25.

See Him as your Shepherd – not just reading the words and knowing it in your head. Experience Him as your Shepherd and understand that He took your sickness upon Himself.

Under His Wings

One of the keywords in this passage is the word ‘returned.’ In the original Greek text, it is in the passive voice. This means that you are not the active agent here. It is the Holy Spirit who has brought you back and returned you as is portrayed in Luke 15:1-7.

It is the shepherd who looks for the lost sheep, finds him, lays it on his shoulder, and rejoices that he who was lost is now found. Jesus will carry us on His shoulders, and we can rest in his strength.

When you are praying for your loved ones who have walked away from their faith, begin to thank God for this promise!
