How To Hear God's Voice Clearly
What is the fight of every believer?
Do you know how to differentiate the voices you hear? When we learn how to hear God’s voice in our spirit, we understand how to tell the difference between the two voices – the voice of our carnal mind and the voice of our spirit.
The enemy knows he cannot touch our spirit – the Holy Spirit dwells in our spirit and it is out of bounds to the enemy. Consequently, he will use whatever he can to bring confusion and cause us to struggle in our thought realm.
Our mind is his battleground. This is why it is essential to recognize the voices we ‘hear.’ The enemy will go to great lengths to manipulate our thoughts so that we think they are our thoughts.
We must learn how to hear what God is saying and apply that to our current situation. When we tap into that, it eliminates fear, anxiety, anxiousness, doubt, and confusion.
How To Hear God's Voice - Spoken Vs. Written Word
Eighty percent of what we hear from God is from His Word. When we hear God’s voice, it comes to us through faith and must be CONFIRMED by His Word.
GOD IS A COMMUNICATOR. He is listening to our prayers. He is answering our prayers. We need to understand how to communicate.
SO…..how do we hear?
Imagine yourself sitting in your living room in front of the television. The picture is turned off. The sound is turned off. All you see is a black screen. How does it benefit you? How do you hear anything?
The only way to see and hear what is on TV is to turn it on.The Logos Word Vs. The Rhema Word
This is how we learn to understand the difference between the Logos (written) and the Rhema (spoken) Word of God. We turn ON our spirit by listening to what the Lord is saying to us through our spirit man.
The Logos Word we hear with our physical ears. The Rhema Word we hear with our spiritual ears and it can only be heard in our spirit.
Drum roll: The Logos Word BECOMES the Rhema Word when we hear it with our hearts. Then your faith responds to what you hear from the mouth of God – not by what you see with your physical eyes.
HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE:
Matthew 19:26 “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” This is the LOGOS Word. We understand and accept that. It is a general statement.
Mark 9:23 makes it personal. Jesus said to him, “If you believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” This is the Rhema Word – spoken directly to YOU. It is based on your faith.
It is up to us to believe the Word of God that we are praying. When we believe it, it empowers us. We know Who is behind the promise; and we trust Him without reservation when we realize that His anointing dwells in us – 100% of the time. EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY.
Can Our Spirit Be Corrupted
But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. II Cor 11:3
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘you shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3: 1 – 5
Satan seizes the opportunity and uses the power of suggestion to confuse you and make you believe those thoughts are yours.
The enemy used the Word to twist and manipulate Eve’s thoughts. He ATTACKED the truth by twisting the truth.
SINCE THAT TIME – there has been a battle between Satan and us. He has endeavored to manipulate our minds.
He is the master of dealing with thoughts and knows how our minds wander. Where he wins is when we accept the guilt of those thoughts.
“I must be sinning to allow that thought into my mind.”
NO NO NO NO NO
Understanding The Word Is Vital
When we hear these thoughts we immediately think they are our thoughts. Sometimes they come out of nowhere. Sometimes they are terrible thoughts and we immediately come under a load of guilt because we think they are our thoughts.
The carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. Romans 8:7
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [a]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
UNDERSTAND that there is a full-scale campaign going on in your life and mine – in the thought realm
THIS IS WHY UNDERSTANDING THE RHEMA WORD IS VITAL – So we can differentiate between the words in our mind and those in our spirit – which come from God.
When the Holy Spirit dwells in your heart, all things are made brand new. Your heart becomes pure and that is why you can trust the thoughts of your heart – NOT your mind -- as a Christian. We can only trust our spirit – the thoughts of our heart.
One Final Thought
The last time I taught on this subject, someone asked about the verse in Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
This is PRE-Christ’s death and resurrection – before His Spirit came to dwell in our spirits. This is one example of how the enemy would choose to bring confusion and twist the truth of God’s Word.
