Is God Angry When I Sin?

Is God angry with me when I sin?

“God is happy with me when I do right and angry with me when I do wrong!” Have you ever had that thought or possibly heard someone say that?

This is a universal concern for many Christians who have been taught that their Christianity is based on what they do or do not do. Throughout the Bible, there is nothing to support that tradition.

If you hear that message, rest assured it is not scriptural. Our position with God is not based on what we do. It is based on what God has done for us.

Old Covenant of law is based on YOU SHALL NOT, YOU SHALL NOT, YOU SHALL NOT.

Is God Angry When We Sin?

sin

Romans 8 points out that there is NO condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. The law of the spirit of life in the book of Romans says I WILL, I WILL, I WILL, and instead of what you need to DO, shows you what Christ has DONE.

The old covenant law puts the demand on you.

The new covenant law puts the demand on God Himself to perform what He has promised when He sent His Son to pay the supreme sacrifice for our sin, guilt, and shame.

Christianity is DONE, DONE, DONE – not DO, DO, DO and the sooner you realize that truth of God’s Word the sooner you will be free of condemnation and guilt.

It Is Finished

it is finished

When Jesus died on the cross and cried out “It is finished,” the full anger of God against sin had been completely exhausted on His body.

If the anger of God against all your sins has already been completely exhausted, how can God be angry when you fail?

If the anger of God against all your sins has already been completely exhausted, how can God be angry when you fail?

How could God be angry with you when He has already declared, “Your sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more?” Hebrews 10:17.

We will never fully comprehend the extent of God’s grace until eternity. His grace is greater than all our failures. He loves us perfectly and wants us to reign in life. Go to Him with all your imperfections. He is your God and He will love and transform you into wholeness.

When God looks at you He sees His Son. He sees Christ’s righteousness which covers you.

God's Grace Is Greater Than Our Sins

god's grace

God will perform what He has promised. He promised you salvation, healing, and deliverance. He promised not to remember your sins because His Son took those sins upon Himself when He died for you.

God’s grace is greater than all our sins. We will never do enough, pray enough, read our Bible enough, or be good enough to be worthy of righteousness. God gave us righteousness (right-standing) because of what His Son did for us.
