The Power Of Life And Death

When you read Proverbs 18:21 which says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” do we fully understand how this small verse can have an immense impact on each phase of our Christian walk?
When we speak the Word into any situation, no matter how grave it is, we are speaking words of life.
When we speak the Word into any situation, no matter how grave it is, we are speaking words of life. When my doctor told me I would die if I did not have a hysterectomy because of cancer in my body, I had a choice. I could accept the words of the doctor that gave me no hope or I could speak the truth of God’s Word.
Realize that the Word is not a magic wand we wave over a condition but rather take the Word spoken to our hearts by the Holy Spirit and apply that truth to the problem.Apply The Truth Of God's Word

I refused radical treatment and stood up to the doctor who told me that if I ignored his advice, I should “go home, lady, suffer and die.” I rejected that curse and the fear that came with it and began a campaign to not allow those words to affect me. I began to apply the truth of God’s Word until it burned into my heart. It removed all doubt and fear.
I audibly spoke scripture throughout the day whenever that fear would try to grab me. I knew the Word cannot lie and I made the concentrated decision to believe it. Did my healing happen overnight? No.
But each time I spoke the Word, my faith and strength built inside my spirit until I saw the manifestation of healing in my body. You will love the rest of this story when the doctor reluctantly told me I was pregnant.
By speaking the truth of God’s Word into our prayer life, we are praying the answer instead of the problem. We are standing on that truth no matter how hopeless we may feel. We are praying His answer rather than petitioning God for help. He has already provided. We choose to believe it.
Faith Does Not Deny Reality

Some people have a poverty mentality and choose not to believe that God is our Source, our Provider. They continue to speak negativity into their lives. Faith does NOT deny reality.
The dilemma is real but rather than begging God to change it, we use the Word to apply truth to it. We can pray, “Oh, God, I can’t go on like this. I don’t know what to do.”
Or we can pray, “Thank you God that you have promised to provide. You have promised to heal. You have promised that my family would come to know You. And for that I thank You. I know Your Word is yes and amen. I stand on Your promise and expect to see it happen. I choose not to doubt. I choose not to allow fear to rob me of Your truth. I know that You and You alone can restore what has been taken from me.”
Many times as I prayed a similar prayer when all hope was gone, I could feel God’s strength build inside of me. The more I thanked Him and praised Him for what he had promised, the more my faith grew.
Prayers And Blessings

Conversely, when we speak angry words in our prayers, how can we expect God to respond? If you are asking God why He allowed something to happen instead of thanking Him that He knows the beginning from the end, this is not a prayer of faith. God responds to our faith. It is our faith that heals the sick, the wounded, the bad relationships, the loss, or the lack in any area of our lives.
What a tremendous analogy James uses in James 3:4-5 says, “Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so, the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles.”
In 1 Peter 3:9 it says, “Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.”
Blessings From God

The original Greek word for blessing is eulogeo, which means to speak well of and where we get our word eulogy. When we speak well of….we are bringing the blessing on our lives, our relationships, our family, or our jobs.
Speak the Word over these and watch them change. God wants us to understand the power of our words and the power of His Word to us.
God spoke the earth into existence.
God spoke life into existence.
God spoke to the storm and it calmed.
God spoke to the demons and they fled.
God spoke to the sick and they were healed.
God spoke to the dead and they came back to life.
It is NO different today. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Remember – the Rhema Word is the SPOKEN WORD of God from our spirit that we speak into a situation. Conclusion
In John 14:12 Jesus said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do because I go to My Father.”
