Righteousness Conscious Vs. Sin Conscious: Which One Are You?

What is the difference between being righteousness conscious and sin conscious? Does it matter?
I was a preacher’s kid and as far back as I can remember the mindset was what we must do, rather than what Christ has done for us. We had a general understanding of what Christ did for us and that our sins were forgiven but it often stopped there.
After the initial forgiveness of their sins, many people feel they have to be constantly aware of their sin and become sin-conscious instead of righteousness-conscious or judgment-conscious instead of forgiveness-conscious. There is a massive difference.
When you understand this and begin to practice it, you will begin experiencing new dimensions in your love walk with your Heavenly Father. You will realize that God is all about relationship and NOT religious protocol.
Under God's Grace

Under grace, God does not demand perfection from you; He supplies perfection to you through the finished work of His Son, Jesus Christ.
No matter how many mistakes you have made or how many times you mess up, you need not be afraid of Him. He loves you. He is running toward you to embrace you – not to condemn you.
God is all about relationship and NOT religious protocol.
God is NOT the accuser. Satan is and his main job is to keep you from the truth of God’s Word. Satan is the father and author of guilt. It is important to remember that he cannot influence your thought life unless you allow it.
What Being Sin Conscious Means

He does this mainly through guilt. He tricks you into believing that guilt comes from God. His purpose – to steal your joy and to keep you in a state of self-condemnation. When you feel defeated, he won that round.
However, when you become aware of his tactics and know that the enemy is a liar and that Jesus paid the price for our guilt, shame, anxiety, and sin…that truth sets you free.
Your alarm goes off in your brain when you wake up to what your spirit has been telling you to believe. And that is….you are free because the truth has set you free.
Romans eight makes it exquisitely clear that we are free from condemnation or guilt. We are free from the bondage of the law.
When Christ died on the cross he said, “It is finished.” There is nothing more He needed to do. He completed the work. Jesus took the sin, the guilt, the blame, and the pain.
The Truth Of God's Spirit

When we have the truth of the Word in our spirit, that truth will rise up and give us the strength we need if we feel bombarded by the enemy’s lies.
Christ lives in you. Christ influences our spirit. Christ speaks to us in our spirit. The enemy has ZERO access there which is why it is of utmost importance to develop that voice and learn to recognize it.
It is time to stop wandering in Satan’s arena of doubt, fear, and even unbelief. It is time to stop asking for prayer for God to help you.
When Jesus said “It is finished,” it means it is complete. When we question that we are doubting what the Word tells us and that is unbelief. God does not respond to that lack of faith.
God always responds to our faith and His Word.
Our Prayer

Let your prayer and confession of your faith be one of what God is doing and what He has promised He would do for you. Stop praising the enemy by giving him any recognition in your life. He loves the attention and will keep coming back for more.
This makes you sin-conscious rather than righteous conscious. Remember….you are righteous because of what Christ has done not by your actions of reading the Bible or praying more or anything else you may attempt to make you feel more blameless.
When God looks at you, He does not see your sins. He sees the perfection of His Son in you.
God does not demand perfection from you; He supplies perfection to you through the finished work of his Son, Jesus Christ. No matter how many mistakes you have made, don’t be afraid of God. He loves you.
Your heavenly Father is running toward you to embrace you.
