What Is The Secret To Answered Prayers?
How powerful do you believe God’s Word is? Think about it. We often quote scripture verses that bring hope and assurance of answered prayer, but do we believe it in our hearts? Do we struggle with what the Word is telling us and what we see in front of us?
“For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword piercing even to the division of soul and spirit and joints and marrow” Hebrews 4:12.
The key is in that verse – the division of soul and spirit. The Word is alive. It is living in our spirit. When we are confused or struggle to believe what the Bible is saying, we try to rationalize it in the natural – our mind.
Our mind sees the disease. Our mind sees the struggle. Our mind sees the hopelessness of a situation. But the Word of God is powerful and divides what we see with our physical eyes from what God is showing us in His Word and our hearts.An Answered Prayer
A perfect example of this is the story of when I prayed for a young man in hospital with only hours to live. My physical eyes saw a shell of a man who was gaunt, gray, and lifeless. But God sent me there to pray for him. That was not a mistake. It was not a test.
I did not pray for him. I did not ask God to heal him. I merely spoke the Word over him several times and each time more life came into him until he rose from his bed.
Mark 4:15 says that Satan is fully aware of the power of the Word. He does not want you to know its power. He will try to confuse you, bring doubt, and of course, his favorite…..fear. He will cause you to doubt the Word if you allow him.
If he can keep you afraid of what could happen – you are in his arena, and he will continue to feed you those doubts. But you have the authority to use the Word of God against those doubts or fears.
The Word of God is the OPPOSITE of death. The Word is life. The Word defeats the enemy. It defeats sickness. It defeats death. It defeats trauma. It removes stress. It brings joy.
Speak The Word
Speak the Word to any situation. Speak it aloud. Repeat it until the truth of that Word is in your heart. Begin to praise God for it and turn your prayer from petition to thanksgiving giving God the praise for answers to any dilemma.
When you pray the answer instead of the problem, you are praying life into it and God will turn it around. When you do that, you can rest in that promise. God’s Word is true – it will not return void. Your mission is to believe it and not waver.
“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” Isaiah 55:11.
The word ‘believe’ is the action part of faith. It is the same word that is used in the verse “faith without works is dead” James 2:17. Often people think that the word ‘works’ is what we need to do to gain the promise. No. The action – the works – is our belief. - Stop listening to what your mind is telling you
- Develop the voice of your spirit so you can hear the Word clearly
Speak to the problem, the fear, the anxiety. Take authority over the negative thoughts and replace them with the Word. That is the secret to answered prayer.
