How To Be A Giant Slayer

Have you ever had a giant in your life that seemed bigger than you could manage? It consumed your thoughts, and you may have wondered, “How am I going to get through this?”
That giant stood in front of you and blocked your view from seeing anything else. Just as that massive giant stood in front of David.
What was David thinking? He was a little shepherd boy, without a sword, a spear, or a javelin? But David knew what he had – the Word of God in his heart. And with that Word, he challenged the giant.Slaying The Giant

David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the Name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you” - I Samuel 17:45-46.
When David challenged the giant, he did not say, “I am going to try to take you down, sir. I know you are a big bully; you are very strong, and you have killed many. But I believe I can take you down.”
NO! David said, “I am doing it. There is no question. There is no doubt. There is no fear. I have the Word of God and the power of God.” David knew the weapons he had and with that, he overtook the giant.
Overcome The Enemy

There are no insignificant details in the Bible. Even the names carry secrets for our benefit.
The name Goliath comes from the Hebrew root word, galah, which means ‘to exile.’ To be exiled is to be stripped of everything you are and everything you own.
Goliath’s name means that he had been stripped of everything – exiled. What a name! Goliath is a picture of the devil as he is – stripped of all his weapons against us because of the cross.
“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it” Colossians 2:15.
The name David means beloved. The battle in the valley of Elah was a battle between a beloved of God and a stripped exile. Going into battle, David knew who he was, God knew who he was, and the enemy had absolutely no idea who he was fighting. Isn’t that exciting? When we know who we are in Christ, we can bring down any giant.
This is the secret of becoming a giant slayer. It matters not what the giant is in your life. It could be a marital problem or a financial situation.
Begin to see who you are as God’s beloved and your giants will come tumbling down.
Defeat The Giants In Your Life

God knows the giants in your life that may try to overtake you and that is why He has given you the weapons to use. You have the Word, the Name, and the Blood of Jesus which are the weapons of mass destruction. When you understand the weapons you have and how to use them, you can rest assured you are protected as the beloved of God.
Write this down and get it into your spirit: “I know I am the beloved of God who can bring down any giant that may be threatening me.”
When we grasp that truth we stop dwelling on the giants; the problems. We do not think about them and they are no longer a threat.
Fear is gone. We see the battle in front of us as already won and began to praise God. We can turn our prayers of petition into ones of thanksgiving. We stop begging God to help us and thank Him for what He has promised He would do on our behalf.
Our focus changes. The enemy recognizes that we are no longer in his arena of fear, but he is in our arena of faith – and he cannot stay. He is disarmed.
Look at those giants as defeated. Look at yourself as the victor because of what Christ has done for you and what He has promised He would do.
Goliath has no place in your life – you do not need to live in the abyss of fear.
