God Is Our Strength And Refuge

our strength and refuge

It was summer and the patio door to our bedroom was open. Around midnight I woke up from a deep sleep and realized someone was standing over my bed. To my surprise, I was calm and did not stir or sit up.

I noticed that this woman was attempting to grab my throat with no good intentions. Calmly I said, “You can’t touch me.”

At that point, she glanced to her right, and whatever she saw terrified her. It might have been a giant angel or two or maybe dozens – but with no hesitation, she tripped while escaping my room, tried to pull the wooden bench on the deck behind her, and ran down the driveway.

My husband woke up and asked who I was talking to, and I told him I would tell him in the morning. He wanted to know – now. We discussed it and realized that even while I was asleep, no danger could come to our dwelling. I didn’t have to pray, scream, or beg God to help me.

The assurance that comes from knowing who you are in Christ rose from my spirit and I could rest in peace. This is unconscious faith.

God Is Our Strength

Everything you receive from God comes through faith. We walk by faith. We are saved by faith, healed by faith, and made righteous by faith. This is a life of faith in God’s grace and His promises

Faith works by love – His love toward us. Just as you would protect your child from impending danger, God protects those who know and trust Him.

Faith is bringing out of the spirit realm what is already there – what is already in your spirit. You do not confess that you are righteous to become righteous. You confess that you are righteous because you are already righteous. Confessing it merely confirms what is in your heart.

That is why I could calmly say “You cannot touch me’ and knew it was done. Faith springs forth unconsciously and you walk in victory over every area of your life.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You” Isaiah 26:3.

You need the truth of God’s Word to uproot any fear or wrong belief. Take time to find scripture that shows you that you have nothing to fear. Say them out loud – thank God for those promises when you pray His Word.

Perfect peace comes from your spirit where Christ dwells, which is why we can rest in that assurance.

Instead of stressing over something, train your heart to speak out God’s truth when you face trauma or concerns.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” Psalm 46:1.

Don't Be Afraid - Take Courage

god our refuge

You may be going through one of many storms in your life. You may feel beaten and discouraged. Just as Jesus calmed the storms while at sea, He will do that in your life when you choose to trust Him.

His Name is above the storms – you can speak to those storms with the voice of authority from the Word of God. Speak to the cancer and remind it that the Name of Jesus is above every name

He is greater than any trauma, adversity, oppression, guilt, sin, sickness, or brokenness. Lift your heart and hands to heaven and thank God that He is your healer, your savior, your comfort, and your joy. Praise Him for who He is and thank him from the depths of your heart.

He loves you and only wants what is best for you. Rest in that and do not allow worry to rob you of the joy He wants to give you. That is how you can make your petitions in prayer with thanksgiving in your heart – because you know He already is working on your behalf. (Philippians 4:6)

Don’t be afraid – but take courage (Matthey 14:27)

God Is Your Strength

The storms of life can try to zap you of your energy and plant negative thoughts in your mind. But trust in the Word of God. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” Psalm 46:1

Jesus will be there at the exact moment you need Him because He never leaves you.

For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you” Deuteronomy 31:6.

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him” Psalm 91:15.

Our God wants us to RUN to Him. He WILL answer us – not maybe but sure.

god's word

Christ was forsaken by His Father as he hung on the cross for us. He felt helpless, abandoned, and deserted so that we never have to feel that way. Think about that – can you imagine that kind of love?

He merely asks us to call upon Him in our need and He will answer us. Panic attacks, fear, and anxiety are not in His vocabulary – nor should they be in ours. Our trust is complete in Him.

Cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you” 1 Peter 5:7.
