You Shall Know The Truth

you shall know the truth

When referring to learning and academic circles, it is common to hear someone say, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” Some universities have that statement emblazoned on the entrance to the building.

Jesus said, “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free” John 8:32. This verse is used more in quotations than most others. Let us look at it from a different perspective.

Freedom is the opposite of bondage. Freedom comes through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please hear this clearly: Grace is NOT a theology topic. Grace is NOT a doctrine. Grace is NOT a subject. Grace is the person of Jesus Christ.

Abundance Of Grace

abundance of grace

To have the abundance of grace in your life is to have the abundance of Jesus in your life. Jesus is the personification of grace. Jesus is grace. When we receive Jesus in our lives, we have received grace in our lives.

It is grace that shall set you free. The law of Moses will not set you free. The law of Moses is bondage. When we choose to hold onto the old covenant and the law of Moses, and even go as far as to preach it as a truth that liberates – that is not truth and will not bring freedom.

The only truth that liberates and sets you free is the grace of God through His Son Jesus Christ.

Some well-meaning ministers and teachers are afraid of this subject. They are concerned that if you get the message of grace, you will live a life of debauchery and have no concern over any sin in your life. There is nothing in the New Covenant to confirm that. Nothing. It is the opposite of truth. “But sin shall not have dominion over you. For you are not under the law, but grace” Romans 6:14.

When you grasp that truth and realize that you are not under the law, sin loses its dominion over you. The more grace you receive, the more power you have in your life over sin. And the more understanding you have as to how to be victorious over sin in your life is to study the message of grace.

Sin Does Not Have Dominion Over You

sin does not have dominion over you

Saturate your thoughts with this truth: Sin does not have dominion over you when you have received the abundance of grace – which is the abundance of Jesus.

This realization removes the fear that you are going to ‘fall’ from grace. Jesus and the abundance of grace live within your spirit. You do not have to fret over asking forgiveness each time you think you may or may not have sinned. Jesus’ grace covers that.

Please do not misconstrue this message. It is NOT that you go out and live a sinful lifestyle thinking it does not matter because you are covered by grace.

That is not the point in any way, shape, or form. The more you understand and realize the message of grace, the LESS you will want to sin. You will grasp the understanding of grace in your spirit and that truth sets you free from the bondage of guilt and condemnation.

You Shall Know The Truth, And The Truth Shall Set You Free

the truth shall set you free

Your freedom comes from Jesus living in your heart. You no longer have  to worry about being in bondage to guilt, fear, or shame. These do not come from God.

Romans 8 tells us that when we understand guilt and condemnation do not come from God, we move from the law of sin and death into the law of the spirit of life.

There is no guilt or condemnation under the law of the spirit of life.

Repeat that as often as you think of it. Pray it as a thanksgiving prayer to your heavenly Father.

The law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” John 1:17. Did you see that? The law was given, which implies a sense of distance. But grace CAME in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is grace! Realize deeply that truth is on the side of grace – not the law.

Do you see how the enemy has tried to pull the wool over the eyes of God’s sheep by putting up fences surrounding the gospel of grace

But the power of truth and God’s Word can break down those prison doors and make you free. It is the truth of His grace. Your freedom is found in believing the Word of God and it sets you free.

You are not under the law - understand that you have an abundance of grace, and you can overcome sin in your life.
