You Are NEVER In A Spiritual Warfare
What is your definition of authority? We are told that we have power over the enemy and how to usurp that power. Yet, sometimes when we are in a precarious position, we forget the God-given rights we have.
The dictionary describes the word authority as:
The power to enforce laws, exact obedience, command, determine, or judge.
One that is invested with this power.
Power assigned to another, authorization.
Think about that! Hebrews 2:14 says “Through His death, He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.” Jesus Christ destroyed the enemy. He no longer has any authority over you, as a child of God.
In the original text, the word “destroy” means: to put to naught. Put to naught means to regard as nothing. What the devil thought he had is PUT TO NOTHING. He has no right – no authority over you.
The enemy has no authority over you BUT you have all authority over him. Your authority over him has been assigned to you from God Almighty who has given you the right to enforce, command, and rest assured of your position.
You have the right. You have the power. Your enemy has been ‘put to nothing.’ Start looking at yourself in this light.
No Spiritual Warfare
When you see Satan as nothing, you will stop fighting. You will stop talking about the battle and turn your mind to the victory you already have.
When we complain about the enemy trying to hurt us, or the spiritual battle we believe we are in….we negate everything that the Word tells us Jesus has already done. HE fought the battle, so we do not have to. PERIOD.
When people ask me to pray for them as they are in spiritual warfare, I always ask them “Why?” Why would you fight a winning battle? Why would you look at what the enemy is trying to do and GIVE HIM THE RECOGNITION he wants?
Stop asking God to fight your battles when He has made it exquisitely clear that the battle is already won by His Son. When Jesus said, “it is finished,” He meant it. The battle is done. It is over. Jesus has won it for you.
This is where we turn our petitions into prayers of thanksgiving. We stop asking God to help us and start thanking Him that He has promised He would.
"Be Anxious For Nothing..."
“Be anxious for NOTHING, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication with THANKSGIVING let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes ALL understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there be any praise – THING ON THESE things….and the God of peace is with you” Philippians 4:6-9.
Realize deeply that when you give recognition to what the enemy is trying to do, rather than thanking God for what He has done, you are playing right into the devil’s arena. He LOVES the recognition because it takes it away from God.If you get a negative health diagnosis or find yourself in the middle of a trauma, do not start warring against the devil. Instead, start thanking God that although you are in this situation, you know that God has promised you in His Word that He is your healer, your source, and your strength.
Do You Want To Know A Secret?
Satan loves to keep you in warfare mode. If you stay there, he knows you do not understand the authority God gave you. He knows he can wear you out on the battlefield instead of giving God the praise that He is in control.
To take this one step further look at Ephesians 6:12. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of the world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Maybe you are wondering why it says that we are wrestling when the battle is already won. If you look at the original text for the word wrestle, the King James translators used that word instead of the accurate translation which is the word “struggle.”
WOW – that changes everything and confirms what the entire New Testament tells us regarding our position of authority and victory – not fighting and defeat.
When we struggle, it is within ourselves – not with the enemy. A struggle is short-lived and is in our thoughts. When we apply the Word to those thoughts, they dissipate.Do you see the difference? The devil wants you to wrestle, to fight, and to believe you are in a battle. He certainly does not want you to see yourself as a winner or a victor, because of your understanding of who you are in Christ and the authority you possess.
Do you want to know a secret? One that Satan does NOT want you to understand.
Satan has NO defense against God’s grace. This is the main reason he wants to keep you from understanding it.
We are humans and we struggle. We struggle with our thoughts and getting them in the proper perspective as to who we are and the authority we have because of Christ.
The Battle Has Been Won
He wants you to remain in the sin-conscious or guilt-conscious mode and live under condemnation. But, when we understand God’s grace and that our self-efforts are futile, he has zero defense.
When you realize that there is nothing you can do to earn God’s grace and that you certainly do not deserve it, you will understand that it is a gift – unwarranted and undeserved.
Understanding that message is another way we defeat the enemy – every time. Grace has qualified us. We cannot do anything to qualify ourselves except ask Jesus into our hearts.
Stand free. Walk tall. Immerse yourself in that truth. God’s grace is sufficient. Done.
If the enemy points to your failures, sins, shame, or shortcomings, all you need to do is point him to the cross. It is a finished work.
God loves you despite what you have done, who you are, or what you thought. He loves you because He sent his Son to redeem you from the curse of the law. And he will not take it back.
Affirm every day that you are a new creature in Christ. Stand firm in that understanding that Christ paid the price.
